(Interview on the new department) 化学物理工学科教員が目指す次世代人材育成

In my research group, a student and I design the thesis research theme that student want to do, together. This “design process” may take several months, but I think the students have the power they need in an era where problem setting is more important than problem solving. 研究室では、学生がやりたい卒論研究テーマについて学生と一緒に設計していきます。この「設計」が数カ月かかる作業になったりしますが、問題解決能力より課題設定能力が大事と言われる時代において求められる力を身に着けていると思います。

Roundtable Discussion: “Shaping the Future Society through Chemical Engineering” Hosted by the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan 化学工学会（2018年）座談会「未来社会を拓く化学工学会へ」

化学工学が異分野とのコミュニケーションを促進し、スケール感覚を養う学問。同時に、国際的な視点から、過剰な日本製品の文化は必ずしも求められておらず、真の適正技術の追求こそが重要です。Chemical engineering was highlighted as a field that fosters communication across different disciplines and develops a crucial sense of scale. However, from an international perspective, it was noted that the culture of “too-much” Japanese product complexity isn’t always needed, underscoring the importance of pursuing truly appropriate technology.
