This article reviews recent research works to show that spray method is a reliable tool to transfer the liquid-phase nanoparticles with organic compound into the gas-phase for measurement and assembly. The colloidal droplets are heated in the gas-phase to remove organic compounds and to transform the material to a desired crystalline phase. Particles can be deposited in the form of a monolayer film on a substrate by electrostatic force, and the selective deposition of “plus/minus” charged nanoparticles on an electrified pattern can also be performed. Aerosol measurement after in-flight heating is capable of accurate measurement for the size distributions of colloidal nanoparticles, providing useful thermal analysis route for nanomaterials.

Macro scientific visualization showing a single liquid (colloidal) droplet evaporating into a cloud of dispersed nanoparticles, transitioning from fluid dynamics to airborne aerosols and then converting the nanoparticles suspended in the gas-phase into their assembly of nanoparticles on a surface. Dark neutral background, luminous cyan and amber particles, high contrast, cinematic lighting, no text or logos.
