Visited Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry. 【見学】電力中央研究所

After a lunch time (Turkish food) around Kamakura station; we (12 students) visited Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry (電力中央研究所) in Yokosuka city (Kanagawa prefecture).

Since 2008, some of lab’s members have been collaborating with CRIEPI on measuring particulate matters (PM) at the exhaust of coal-based power plant.

Thanks to Noda san, Shimizu san, and Makino san for our study tour.

Lithium manganese oxide (LiMn2O4) powders with particle sizes in the range of 100 nm – 600 nm have been synthesized through glucose-assisted combustion synthesis. The presence of glucose increases the stability of the precursor solution, purity of the heat-treated powders, and decreasing on size of the synthesized particle.

(植物由来原料)グルコースを添加した「燃焼合成法」により二次電池用粉末
グルコースの添加により、熱処理される前の粉末の前駆体(LiとMnの溶液)の「安定性」が向上し、合成された粒子の微粒化(サイズ減少)にも効果的。100~600 nmの範囲の粒径を持つリチウムマンガン酸化物(LiMn2O4)粉末が合成できました。

Optimization of Post-Heat Treatment for Doping of Metal Oxide Particles

Liquid-to-solid route for preparing a doped metal oxide (powder) shows advantage on the homogeneity of the precursor as well as the product. Heat treatment plays important role in the process where the salt of precursor in the liquid reacts to form metal oxide solid particles and doped with ions of another element. Understanding the effect of heat treatment in the doping process will then give great advantages. In the present study, different heat-treatment profiles had been proposed and applied to increase the efficiency of doping.
