On February 18th and 19th, Dean Nobufumi Nakamura of the Graduate School of Engineering, along with Professor Hirotaka Saito (Councilor of the Faculty of Agriculture), Professor Masafumi Hirano (Councilor of the Graduate School of Engineering), Professor Masafumi Yoda (COI-NEXT Project Leader), Professor Kenta Umebayashi (Chair of the International Exchange Committee of the Graduate School of Engineering), Professor Wuled Lenggoro (Head of the Division of System Chemical Engineering), and Assoc. Professor Yukiko Horikiri (Global Education Institute), visited Indonesia to strengthen collaboration with educational and research institutions.

On February 18th, the delegation visited the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) under the Ministry of Finance and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). They discussed cooperation on government scholarships for Indonesian students. Direct meetings with BRIN’s Chief, Dr. Handoko, and other staff involved in human resource development and international exchange laid important groundwork for future collaboration.

On the morning of February 19th, the delegation visited the University of Indonesia (UI) headquarters and the Faculty of Engineering (FTUI). At the headquarters, they met with Vice President Prof. Sudibandriyo and discussed strengthening student exchange through the Double Degree Program (DDP) in addition to the long-standing collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering. At FTUI, they met with Acting Dean Dr. Kusuma, Manager of Cooperation and Entrepreneurship Dr. Sahlan (a TUAT alumnus), and Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering Dr. Susanto, sharing directions to enhance student exchanges. They also confirmed details of a research internship program set to start in April 2026.

In the afternoon of the 19th, Assoc. Professor Horikiri and Professor Lenggoro gave an introductory lecture about TUAT to 110 undergraduate students of the Department of Chemical Engineering. They explained study abroad options and future career paths, receiving enthusiastic questions from the students. Concurrently, Professor Umebayashi interacted with many faculty members and students interested in studying at our university, including the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Prof. Udhiarto. In the evening, the delegation had a dinner meeting with the new President of UI, Prof. Hermansyah, and the new Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kurniawan, deepening their friendship.

This visit significantly strengthened ties with Indonesian educational and research institutions, expanding possibilities for student exchanges. TUAT will continue to build on this cooperative relationship.
