The Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) Science Museum boasts one of the finest collections of textile machinery and related artifacts in Japan. A portion of this collection is showcased as “dynamic exhibits,” allowing visitors to experience the impressive movements and sounds of the machinery up close, which is a unique charm of this museum. These dynamic exhibits are maintained and managed by individuals who once thrived as engineers, providing a valuable opportunity to learn about the intricate mechanisms and design philosophies behind the technology.

Additionally, the museum offers a “Friends Association” that utilizes its facilities to help individuals acquire textile technology, functioning as a venue for lifelong learning. The annual exhibition showcases the textile skills developed by participants, linking them to creative activities and serving as a platform to pass on not only the artifacts but also the techniques themselves to future generations. By connecting historical textile materials, traditional techniques, and cutting-edge knowledge unique to the university, this museum serves as a place where the baton of innovation is passed from the past to the future.
